Tummy-to-tummy carry

(Newborn - legs in)

For this set of instructions, I'm using a reversible sling with the solid colour side out.

1. For this carry, we want the padding to be on the outer rail to create a soft comfy head support. Hold the padding with one hand. Fold the unpadded side under bringing it together with the padded side. 2. Put the sling over one shoulder and rotate it to get the seam in front of your tummy. Create a seat at the seam where your baby will sit by pulling the outer rail up and inner rail down. 3. Hold baby over the free shoulder as if you are burping them.
4. Tuck baby's legs in front of their tummy or cross them. 5. Gently slide baby in. 6. Pull the top/outer rail up over baby's back and neck for support. Check that their bum is well supported by the bottom of the sling and their legs are tucked comfortably inside the fabric.

(3 months +)

This is a great way to hold newborns if they don't like the cradle position or prefer to be more upright.

1. Rotate the sling so that the seam is in front of your tummy. Create a seat at the seam where your baby will sit by pulling the outer rail up and inner rail down. 2. For newborns and small babies, tuck their legs up in front of their tummy or cross them. Hold baby up above the sling. 3. For newborns and small babies, slide their bottom into the sling. For older babies, put their legs in the space between your body and the sling.
4. Pull the top/outer rail up over baby's back and neck for support. 5. Check that the bottom padded rail is under baby's knees for older babies. For younger babies, check that their bum is well supported by the bottom of the sling and their legs are tucked comfortably inside the fabric.
