Tips on using the Snugglez Mei Tai

Shortening the Mei Tai body

For young babies (newborn - 3 months) or toddlers that want their arms over the shoulder straps. Holding the Mei Tai like you would tie it against your waist, roll it up into itself once, and then tie the straps on. (Picture coming soon)

Using the sleep hood

Babies look so cute when they're asleep and it is a magical feeling carrying a sleeping baby.

1. This is how Romero falls asleep on my back. When he starts showing tired signs (rubbing his eyes or shaking his head), I put him on my back and he'd fall asleep within minutes! 2. Grab the thin straps attached on the sleep hood and pull it up covering baby's head. You may like to do this in front of the mirror the first few times. 3. Tuck the sleep hood straps under the shoulder straps and wrap them around a few times like a coil. You will find that the weight of your baby pulling on the shoulder straps is enough to secure the straps in place. Thus knots are not required.

Breastfeeding

You can breastfeed your baby in the front carry by tying the straps a bit looser so baby is slightly lower. You can also pull one of the shoulder straps down if your baby feels more comfortable being fed in a more reclined position.

Comfort

At each stage of the tying process, make sure the straps are pulled snug. This ensures comfort for you and safety for your baby. A good way to check whether you have your baby in a good position is to look in the mirror and check that the bottom part of the mei tai body (your baby's bottom) is not too far below where your waist straps are tied. If it is, redo the shoulder straps. It may help to do a few little bounces on your feet while holding the shoulder straps tight to get baby further into the fabric. Make sure your waist straps are tight while you are doing this.
